On 27 March 2017 in Ankara International Symposium on the Protection and Promotion of Freedom of Expression and Media Freedom took place as the Project’s last event prior to the closing ceremony.
Approximately 150 people attended the symposium. These included but not limited judges and prosecutors from first instance courts, member and rapporteur judges of high courts and representatives from the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of EU Affairs, the High Council of Judges and Prosecutors, Ombudsperson Institution, National Human Rights Institution, High Council of Radio and Television, Union of Internet Providers, Faculties of Law and Communications, Embassies of Member States, NGOs and Media professional organisations.
During the symposium, international and Turkish experts delivered presentations on wide range of freedom of expression related issues, within the context of right to privacy and protection of personal data, countering terrorism, safety of journalists, internet freedom and hate speech. Project publications were disseminated to all participants.
